Are you aware of what you can do to improve your oral health in the future? Although your teeth will naturally wear down over time, it is possible to strengthen them so they can be successful through a lifetime of wearing and tearing. That is why our office is happy to share some information with you about aging and dental health.
To protect your smile, it’s always a good idea to make time for your dentist so you can have routine oral examinations and checkups. Your dentist will be able to determine if your oral health care cleaning routines are operating successfully and to make sure that no dental damage has occurred or other oral ailments are present.
In order to ensure your teeth are successful as you age, never forget to clean them on a daily basis. If you have dentures, you also need to clean them thoroughly by removing them every night and soaking them in a denture cleaning solution. Be sure to brush your teeth twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste. Floss between your teeth with shred-resistant dental floss, or a water flosser.
Improve your diet to improve your oral health. By eating healthy foods, you can limit the dental damage that can occur. This includes eating foods that are high in calcium and phosphorus and other enamel-building minerals. Similarly, avoid products that can easily be damaged by sugars or hard snacks that can chip and crack teeth.
